Black Wave: The Legacy of the Exxon Valdez

When are we going to learn?

With the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico reaching shore Thursday night, I only thought it proper to take a moment to review what happened with the Exxon Valdez, and the lasting environmental degradation that occurs even still to this very day.

Democrats Introduce a bill for a Biometric National ID card

All the Alex Jones conspiracy theorists can pat themselves on the back.

The Democrats have introduced a bill that would require everybody who has a job to carry a biometric national ID card.

They're calling it the B.E.L.I.E.V.E system, (Biometric Enrollment, Locally stored Information and Electronic Verification of Employment)

I guess that means that you can start BELIEVING the shit that Alex Jones talks about.

Read articles on the subject here, here and here.

Oh, and hear what the ACLU has to say on the subject.

Tim James "Xenophobia just makes sense"

Why not reduce the number of languages from twelve to 6, and give driver's license examinations in one of these languages: Chocktaw, Cherokee, Chickasaw, Biloxi, Alabama, or Muskogee?

What, you want ENGLISH?! Goddamn immigrants! Always wanting to be accommodated!

WikiLeaks: Video of the murder of Reuters journalists by the US Military

From http://www.collateralmurder.com/

full video

Some of things I found most disturbing from this footage:

1) Airmen mis-Iding Reuters journalists carrying cameras and tripods as combatants with Ak-47s and RPG launchers.

2) Gunman talking to himself wishing that the cameraman who's legs he shot off with high caliber rounds would "pick up a weapon" so that he could shoot him.

3) Ground patrol IDing an injured child, the gunman saying with no feeling, "oh well" and the ground patrol consoling him saying "well, it's their fault for bringing their kid into a battle." -- Excuse me? But this "battle" is where they fucking LIVE.

4) Ground Patrol laughing while talking about driving over bodies of the recently deceased.

5) After getting a questionable ID on a person carrying a "weapon" into a building, an air gunman positing that they launch a missile into the building.

6) They fire a 1,000lb missile into a building with unarmed people walking around on the sidewalk in front.

7) After the first missile goes off, and bystanders try to help injured people out of the rubble, they fire a second missile. Comments from gunman are "aw sweet! look at that bitch go! Patoosh!"

8) They engage with a third missile and destroy the building.

From http://www.collateralmurder.com/
The military did not reveal how the Reuters staff were killed, and stated that they did not know how the children were injured.

After demands by Reuters, the incident was investigated and the U.S. military concluded that the actions of the soldiers were in accordance with the law of armed conflict and its own "Rules of Engagement".

Consequently, WikiLeaks has released the classified Rules of Engagement for 2006, 2007 and 2008, revealing these rules before, during, and after the killings.

WikiLeaks has released both the original 38 minutes video and a shorter version with an initial analysis. Subtitles have been added to both versions from the radio transmissions.

WikiLeaks obtained this video as well as supporting documents from a number of military whistleblowers. WikiLeaks goes to great lengths to verify the authenticity of the information it receives. We have analyzed the information about this incident from a variety of source material. We have spoken to witnesses and journalists directly involved in the incident.

WikiLeaks wants to ensure that all the leaked information it receives gets the attention it deserves. In this particular case, some of the people killed were journalists that were simply doing their jobs: putting their lives at risk in order to report on war. Iraq is a very dangerous place for journalists: from 2003- 2009, 139 journalists were killed while doing their work.

Obama Visits Maine, April Fools come out- pt3

We want our way of life back, the kind we knew 30 or 40 years ago, when we were afraid of communists, our presidents were white, and we didn't know cigarettes were bad for us!
(or does he mean "when Ralph Nader was the most respected public figure in the USA, people were protesting to end the Vietnam war, and even Republicans supported welfare?")

Also, this guy thinks there are too many old people who are on Medicare and not working.

Tea Party Coordinator Interview

Killing people, he's okay with. Grandma getting a check in the mail so that she doesn't have to eat cat food? He opposes. Sick people getting health care? Heaven forbid!

Obama Visits Maine Part 1

I love how this woman is willing to work a second job to pay for healthcare, but doesn't want to pay into Medicare. And that she thinks it's easy to get healthcare, that she CAN afford it, but chooses not buy it. I hope she doesn't have kids, or she's a terrible mother.

How Corporate America Destroyed Ralph Nader, and are destroying America

Read Chris Hedges's new column on how Corporate America destroyed Ralph Nader's reputation, and destroyed the fundamental principals of America while they were at it.

A sample:

The corporations carefully studied and emulated the tactics of the consumer advocate they wanted to destroy. “Ralph Nader came along and did serious journalism; that is what his early stuff was, such as ‘Unsafe at Any Speed,’ ” the investigative journalist David Cay Johnston told me. “The big books they [Nader and associates] put out were serious, first-rate journalism. Corporate America was terrified by this. They went to school on Nader. They said, ‘We see how you do this.’ You gather material, you get people who are articulate, you hone how you present this and the corporations copy-catted him with one big difference—they had no regard for the truth. Nader may have had a consumer ideology, but he was not trying to sell you a product. He is trying to tell the truth as best as he can determine it. It does not mean it is the truth. It means it is the truth as best as he and his people can determine the truth. And he told you where he was coming from.”
